We are here before our Father
1 We are here before our Father,
who is holy, just and true;
his compassions never fail us -
every morning they are new.
2 We have strayed, rebelled against him,
sinned in thought and word and deed;
yet he seeks us out to offer
the forgiveness that we need.
3 God's own Son came down from heaven
to the cross of Calvary;
all our sin was laid on Jesus
when he died to set us free.
4 On the cross he bore our judgement,
on the cross he took our place;
in that darkness God's love triumphed,
bringing mercy, hope and grace.
5 O what love God shows to sinners!
this great love may now be known;
God's salvation, offered freely,
undeserved - by faith our own!
