1 To everyone whom God has made
he now commands repentance;
his day of judgement has been fixed;
his chosen Judge has been made known
by Jesus' resurrection.
2 The lot of man is once to die,
and after death is judgement;
for many sinners Christ once died,
and will appear a second time
to save those watching for him.
3 With angel - shout and trumpet - call
the Lord will come from heaven;
the dead in Christ will first arise,
ten those still living meet the Lord
and be with him for ever.
4 So since the world will be laid bare,
and since the Lord is coming,
what sort of people should we be
what holy readiness display
to hasten his arrival?
5 We do not know when he will come;
it may be in the morning,
or yet at midnight, dusk or dawn;
will Jesus find us unprepared
or wise, alert and faithful?
