Michael Perry

Born at Beckenham, Kent.

Married Beatrice Mary Stott on 10 June 1967 at Saint Helen's Parish Church, Lancashire.

Their daughter, Helen Mary, was born in 1969 and their son Simon Mark, in 1973.

Educated at Dulwich College; University College, London; Oak Hill Theological College, London; University of Cambridge (Ridley Hall); and University of Southampton.

Ordained to the Church of England Ministry in the Diocese of Liverpool

He served at Saint Helens, Lancashire; Bitterne, Southampton, Hampshire; Eversley, Hampshire; and Tonbridge, Kent.

In 1982, he became honorary Editorial Secretary and Company Secretary of Jubilate Hymns Ltd, a non-profit making company linked to a charitable trust, of which he was a trustee. He was involved in editing most of the books issued by Jubilate Hymns.

While serving as Rector of Eversley, he added to his duties those of Chaplain/Lecturer at the national Police Staff College at Bramshill.

Michael was elected to the General Synod of the Church of England in 1985 and again in 1994.

In 1993, he was appointed as Chairman of the Church Pastoral Aid Society.

His untimely death in 1996 curtailed major service to the worlds of hymnody and church music, but the influence of his important contribution is very much in evidence as we begin a new millennium.
