We hail the approaching God
1 We hail the approaching God,
who quickly comes from heaven,
and celebrate with festive songs
such love so freely given.
2 Within a virgin's womb
he hides his liberty;
the immortal Lord becomes a slave
to set his people free.
3 O run to greet your king
who stands on Zion's hill:
to all who hear his word of peace,
his arms are stretched out still.
4 Soon, shining in the cloud,
the Lord will come again
and take his Body to the skies
to live and love and reign.
5 Then night and death shall yield,
and sin be done away;
then Adam shall be made anew
on that tremendous day.
6 To Father, Spirit, Son,
the God whom we adore,
be highest praise and honour now,
and glory evermore!
