From rolling plains to deep, uncharted jungles;
from icy peaks to scorching desert sands;
from darkest caverns to remotest atolls,
this is your world, and held within your hands.
Yours is the love that holds a home together;
your grace inspires and strengthens those who care;
you give the hope that triggers new beginnings -
where life is good, we know that you are there.
On city streets, among the teeming millions;
where powerful leaders legislate or trade;
on factory floors where every hour seems endless,
you are not absent from the world you made.
You see our wars: how lives and lands are ravaged;
you see the child abused for someone's gain;
you see the starving, and you know the homeless -
you share the victims' tears and feel their pain.
This is your world: Lord, you are always present,
reaching in love to every time and place;
where can we find beyond your Spirit's working,
unless we choose to close our hearts to grace?
