John Crothers
John studied organ under Dr Donald Davison, City and University Organist in Belfast.
Between 1992 and 2001 he was Chairman for Ireland of the Royal School of Church Music. He was also founder and conductor of the RSCM Ireland Singers.
He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Hymn Society of Great Britain and Ireland and was also their Convener of the Media and Communications Task Group.
John has been organist or director of music in Presbyterian, Methodist and Anglican churches, and though he has been professionally a grammar school French teacher and an EFL teacher in France, church music remains a passionate interest.
In 1994 he received the French decoration of Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Palmes Academiques.
John lives in France and since 2011 has been Chair of the newly-formed RSCM France. Now in semi-retirement, he is writing a biography of a Northern Irish musician.
