Although Derek was brought up as a Strict Baptist he has worshipped and worked as an evangelical Anglican since he was 19. He has served in various musical positions in a number of churches and has been involved with the Royal School of Church Music.
His particular aim is to bridge the gap between traditional and contemporary music and worship. He is licensed as a Lay Reader and is active in preaching, teaching and group leading. He is the author of two books, Open Doors, Open Minds (Highland 1994) and Dying to Live (Eagle 1995).
