David Ogden

David Ogden is much in demand as a conductor and director of choral and church music workshops, courses and festivals in the UK and abroad.

He studied conducting with George Hurst and Norman Del Mar, and since graduating from the University of Bristol in 1988 has conducted many different choirs and orchestras, mainly in the South West of England.

For 12 years he was Director of Music for the Diocese of Clifton and for Clifton Cathedral in Bristol, where he conducted the Cathedral Choir in many broadcasts, concerts and tours, as well as weekly services. He currently conducts Exultate Singers, the RSCM Millennium Youth Choir, Midlands and South West Cathedral Singers, City of Bristol Choir, and the youth choir, Bristol Voices. He is Director of Music at Holy Trinity, Westbury on Trym, a thriving parish church in Bristol.

David has conducted numerous concerts of all kinds of music, from jazz and songs from the shows, to first performances by contemporary composers, along with a very large repertoire of choral anthems, motets, oratorios and large-scale choral works. He has premiered works by Roxanna Panufnik, Michael Rose, Martin Kiszko, and Ned Bennet.

In the UK, he works extensively with the Royal School of Church Music, and with the BBC in religious broadcasting, conducting BBC TV\'s Songs of Praise, BBC Radio 4\'s Sunday Worship, BBC Radio 2\'s Sunday Half Hour and BBC Radio 3\'s Choral Evensong.

David is director of White Light Publishing and The Music Mission, an international church music consultancy. He has been teaching conducting and church music skills for many years and is a lecturer in Liturgy and Music for the University of Bristol. As a busy composer, he regularly writes music for churches and schools.
