Brian Hoare
Born at Upminster, Essex and brought up in Southwell, Nottinghamshire.
Educated at Southwell Minster Grammar School; Westminster College, London; and Richmond College, University of London.
Trained as a music and RE teacher, teaching at Calverton, Nottinghamshire before serving as Secretary of Colleges of Education Christian Union (Inter-Varsity Fellowship) in London.
Entered the Methodist ministry in 1968, serving at Hunmanby Hall School, near Filey, Yorkshire (chaplain); Hull, Yorkshire; Cliff College, Derbyshire (New Testament Tutor); Longton Central Hall, Stoke-on-Trent; then in Methodist Home Mission Division (Deputy General Secretary) and subsequently Methodist Connexional Team (Secretary for Evangelism). President of the Methodist Conference 1995-1996. Now retired in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire.
Served on councils of Royal School of Church Music and Music and Worship Foundation. Member of Jubilate Hymns team. Deputy Chairman of Pratt Green Trust. Member of editorial committees for 'Hymns and Psalms', 1983, 'Sing Glory', 1999 and 'NewStart Hymns and Songs', 1999.
Publications include 'Hymns and Songs for Worship', 1988, 'Celebrate and Sing', 1991, 'New Creation', 1995, 'By the Way...', 1995 and 'Singing Faith', 1998.
